Has anyone else encountered this problem? Everytime I try to open a specific document that was created in Word 2003, with Word 2007, it hangs and the process grows and grows to the point of utilizing over a gig in memory. If I check the eventviewer I just see an officelifeboathang error message. It opens fine in Word 2003 however. Any ideas? I've tried opening it in safe mode.

I haven't seen any issues opening 2003 documents in 2007. I'm the only 2007 user in my company, and I can open and edit anything from anyone else...all of whom are using 2003. Have you checked in the Microsoft forums for similar issues?

I haven't yet. I've googled everything I can think of with no results.

I deal with TONS of Office documents and I've not seen this issue ever. Have you tried multiple documents? If you continue to have problems, do a repair install.

This is just one document with the problem. This happens on any system in the office with 2007.

Does that particular document use an add-in that your 2007 install doesn't have?

I took a quick look at it in 2003, it just has a visio drawing embedded, and some tables. Nothing out of the ordinary.

Tried using the 2007 Compatibility Pack to save it as a 2007 file?
