No, despite the 2,000 posts you're going to see on here and various other forums, it is not officially out yet. When you see it on Windows Update or Microsoft Download Center, then it's official.
It wont be long bro...just be patient. ;)

I read that it would be on TechNet this week, but so far, it isn't there.

But the one that is out, is it the final one?

You'll find differing answers to that as well. I personally don't use the words leaked and final to describe the same thing. Unless it was purely a test machine, I'd wait until I had the code from an official channel before installing.

February 14, 2008 (Computerworld) With little fanfare, Microsoft Corp. has moved up the availability of Windows Vista Service Pack 1 (SP1) for TechNet and Microsoft Developer Network subscribers, saying they will be able to download the update by Friday at the latest.

Some people will swear they have the final or that the latest refresh is the final, but it's up to you if you want to take the chance.

Something weird happened last night. It just showed up on my vista machine. I let it run overnight to download all the parts. When I woke up this morning, it was ready to install. Took about an hour to install on Vista Ultimate. THen I shut the machine down. Will see what happens when I get home tonight. I am really looking forward to SP1. And no...I did not participate in the beta program.

It's been on TechNet since yesterday. Go here http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/subscriptions/default.aspx and check popular downloads. If you have an account, that is.

Forgive my ignorance but what will SP1 do exactly?
Hope it makes Vista as trouble-free as XP!!
What versions are these from a couple of days ago?
983308426e8ee7649f53b41f4e5c42d4 *Windows6.0-KB936330-X64.exe
d597866e93bc8f80ecca234c4e9ce5a2 *Windows6.0-KB936330-X86.exe
Are the 2 files above the RC2 refresh or RTM?

Just to confirm, the MD5 checksums listed above match what I downloaded off Technet last night.
"General availability" of SP1 is still slated for late March...
