I have the Acer Quad Core Q6600 I bought at Best Buy for $549. I replaced the video card and put in a EVGA 8800GT Superclocked and replaced the power supply also. I am pretty happy with the current setup now. I mainly play the latest games like UT3, COD4, GOW. As far as the memory is concerned, it's 2 gig of DDR2 667mhz. Is this good enough for this setup? Would DDR2 800mhz or 4 gigs of RAM help increase performance? The base score or lowest score in Vista is the memory at 5.5. All the other components are at 5.8-5.9

System Setup:
Acer Quad Core Q6600 at 2.4ghz stock
2 gig DDR2 667mhz RAM
EVGA 8800GT Superclocked 512b video
500 gig WD Cavier SE SATA
Mobo - It uses an Intel G31 chipset.
PS - Antec 480 watt Trueblue
O/S - Windows Vista Home Premium 32bit
 
Nope, 667Mhz memory should do just fine. It's not like you're going to overclock on that rig. :rolleyes:
 
you're fine with the current setup, no need to upgrade the ram
 
Core 2 machines don't benefit much from faster RAM speeds, so you'll be fine with what you have now.
 
every company i've talked to has said that there is not really a worthwhile difference from 667mhz to 800mhz
 
I guess the main reason to get faster RAM is if you're going to overclock your system? I guess it makes sense since the memory is a big issue when it comes to overclocking.
