Dead WD caviar??

Upon power-on to the drive it clicks a good 10-15 times. It is not the loud dead-drive click, it's more soft. Then it is not recognized at BIOS. If I jump pins 5-6 and enable PM2 (start on standby), the drive will be recognized and then give a drive error. I'm thinking it's just DOA, but I'd like to hear other opinions.

ASrock ALive NF6 mobo
WD Caviar SATA 160GB

All other parts are new, including Antec TruPower PSU.
