You know say if you select a JPG from some software and picked that file as your wallpaper. What is the name of that wallpaper file or where is it?

I know it has the "~" symbol on it, I just have to find it

I am NOT talking about the BMP or JPG file in the c:\windows that you select. It's not selected by the normal process as in picking a BMP file and set as wallpaper.

It's done by some software that ask you "would you like to have whatever JPG as your wallpaper" or something to that effect. That software then create a default file name for windows to read that file as the default wallpaper

I opened a pic in Windows Picture and Fax View and then right-clicked and chose "Set as Desktop background." Windows then made it the "wallpaper" and created the following file:

C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Wallpaper1.bmp

so Wallpaper1.bmp seems to be the one. I'm running Windows Server 2003 however, so XP or Vista may not only create a file with a totally different name but also a totally different location.

Hope this helps...
