Separate HDD with individual OS Setup in Dual Boot?

Is it possible to setup XP and Vista on separate identical hard drives and have the option to dual boot?

The only method I can think of now is to unplug the sata cable from current hd (xp) and switch it to the secondary hard drive (vista).... Vice versa if I intend to switch back to XP.... <--- my ghetto method

i did this with vista at one point.

i had it set up like this: XP media center 2005 on my 80gig

went to install vista, booted from DVD drive, chose my 160gig

once completely installed, restarted and was given the option to boot vista or "an older version of windows". no need to unplug drives.
