Yah, it's annoying as hell when program files shows up as a picture album :D. I used this registry key when I changed all my folder views to the detailed view.
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\Local Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Shell\Bags\AllFolders\Sh ell]
"FolderType"="NotSpecified"

Will that above reg file reset all folder types to detailed view, or will it strip out any pre-saved config info?
Download XdN Tweaker (http://xenomorph.net/?page_id=336). Execute it, go to Files and Folders III, and Make Views Stick.

I think this still works...
Set the view to be detailed
Hit "Alt" to get the menu bar back up at the top
Tools > Folder Options > View , then click "Apply To All Folders" at the top.

I believe it strips them all. I forget if that sets them to the detailed view or if I then went and applied the detailed view to all folders in the control panel as I did it as soon as I installed. However, it works very well.

That's the problem. Even if you set it this way, it won't hold.
