I have been shopping around for a 40"+ HDTV for awhile. Could someone please tell me why this might be a bad deal. I have never heard of eyefi before.

Thanks,

Seems way cheap for that size. 1000:1 contrast ratio is slow.

IDK what else:confused:

fwiw, http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=659611 for banter

looks like a good deal

1000:1 is on the low side for lcd hdtvs, but it shouldn't be that bad.

we all know plasma has the outrageously high contrasts

Be warned, this is an HD-ready display. You will need a separate tuner source (cable box, Tivo, etc.) to watch TV.

Excellent point. But I thought all new TVs sold as of sometime this year had to include an ATSC (digital) tuner. I didn't click on the Wal-mart link, but perhaps they're calling it a "monitor" and can get away w/ it then.

Edit: Here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ATSC_tuner#U.S_Government_mandates) are the FCC mandates on the ATSC deadlines.

No.

All TVs sold *with a tuner* must have an ATSC tuner.

In other words, no NTSC-only TVs. Tunerless TVs (more accurately called monitors) are fine.

Thanks for the clarification and that's what I figured. So it's basically the monitor vs. TV difference. "Monitors" don't need any tuners. But a "TV" needs an ATSC one.
