Vista Ultimate 32bit
Visiontek ATI TV Wonder HD 600
Windows Media Center

I'm using the Media Center that comes with Vista. I go into the guide to get it to record Chuck, and heroes... (i'll be at work) Now if my computers on will Media center pop up and do it automatically? Or do I need to leave Media center open?

Is it mission critical to catch it?
I'd say the easiest thing to do is see if it works...

I'd be 90% sure you just need your machine on (not Media Center). With the extended capabilities of it (Sharing from 360, etc)... It would be a major PITA for Media Center to be running constantly. My guess is it runs as a system service.

True dude. But it's microsoft. You never know. They may want you to have it on 24/7

And yes.. It's mission critical.

mce doesnt need to be running just the pc. Youll see a red circle in the sys try showing its recording.

My mce is in the basement headless and i use webguide to set my shows all from a webpage.
