So I had an XP SP2 Partition and an Vista Ultimate 32bit Partition, I decided to delete the XP partition and add the free space to the Vista Partition (plus has the other thread I made, I'd overrided the ownership to the XP files so I couldn't open anything anymore in XP),

So I loaded up Ubuntu Gusty Gibbon from the CD, once it was loaded I open up the Gparted partition editor, I deleted the XP, and the resized the Vista partition to include the free space, it started, 45mins later it finished, I restarted and during post the BOOT Manager was missing for Vista, so I booted up the Vista DVD and used the Repair tool, this fix that however when I booted in Vista an error came up for rundll32 not working or something and ask me to restart,

once I restarted and booted back in all I get is a blue background with the mouse cursor on screen, there is no icons on the desktop, no taskbar, nothing!, So I'd CRTL, ALT, Delete and open up the task manager and from here I can load up Firefox (To post this) and I can also open up explorer to get the taskbar back up (however if I restart I need to do this again).

Now the thing is I can access my pictures folder and documents folder but there is nothing in there at all, the files are still on the harddrive has I checked when I rebooted back in Ubuntu to see and they are, what I want to know if what have I done to my Vista Partition, have I stuffed it up or what?, I was going to hire/buy Call of Duty 4 today but now cant because well of this problem, is the only option is to back up my files (from in Ubuntu) and reinstall Vista from start or can I fix this without doing that has I'm currently capped on my internet connection with 2 weeks left (stupid ISP and there low download quota) and I'm somewhat tight on HD Space.

Really need urgent help!

Thanks.

sounds like you've throughly smacked your registry on the side of the head. Shes dead Jim.

backup and re-format.

Theres gigs and gigs and gigs of online space. Keep in mind itl take weeks to upload and download again but if you cant get ahold of any storage medium, get any critical information on those sites, then reformat.

You could always just buy another hard drive, they're dirt cheap, $100 can get you 320gigs or 500 gigs if you get a good deal. format it NTFS, move all your stuff over, remove it, reformat the b0rked drive, re-install vista and all your partitions to it, move everything back, then freash format your new drive as whatever you want and just use it as additional space.

Well that sucks :(, I was thinking that if I change the drive letter to C: it might fix it (its currently D:) however I cant access the Disk Manager program to change it, I think I can backup all my files/folders onto another harddrive, I have on here,

its weird my programs at still installed on the harddrive, but it seems that my main admin account I created during the Vista Installation is gone or something like that, but it is still on the harddrive has I can still see the files in Ubuntu.

Think i may just reformat since its the easiest (though will be slow downloading all the lastest updates) and reinstalling all of my programs and games again but its better then my current state.

Don't know what I did, resized an partition before and didn't have this program :(.
