WD Raptor - No power :(

So, I passed out on my bed earlier today, and woke up later on at night. When I went into the other room, I powered on my PC, only to find it shutting off after about 5 seconds.

I immediately WTFed and yanked my power cables and started searching the case for water leaks. (Yes its liquid cooled)

No leaks, that I could tell. However, the system now posts to show no primary device and my HD won't power on.

Heh, its a raptorX with a window, so I gave it a slight flick of the wrist and I can see that the platters aren't seized in any way. It just isn't receiving power.

I went ahead and tested different cables from the PSU both types of power, and use cables that were hooked to other things that were powering on correctly when I booted the system



Anyone have any other suggestions before I RMA it? no extremely vital info gone, but I sure am pissed that it fucked up my gaming weekend.

New development, after leaving the drive and computer off overnight. It booted and ran properly outside the case.

Dreading what would happen, but having computer guts sprawled about, I put it back in the case after powering it off.

I expected the drive would completely fail in the near future, but of course it went again right then, wouldn't power back on.


Not sure what it is, static, luck, but I've never had a problem before in 7 months of owning the computer.

I went out and bought another of the same drive and i'm currently re-installing all of my crap on it. sigh.


I'll RMA the original one, and when it gets back in like a month i'll raid them.
