I was wondering if I could pull my the HD out of my old PC, 'connect' it to my newer PC and be able to get stuff like pictures and docs off it? My old PC would not turn on anymore (6yrs old), I suspect the PSU finaly gave out. I took out the HD and connected it to a power cable in my newer PC and it spins right up. The old PC's PSU is cheasily wired internally to the MB so I cant just connect everything to another PSU and fire the old PC up. My newer PC has a DFI board in it and only one HD connected. Could this second one (which has xp os on it) be 'simply' connected to my PC?

Yeah it should be accessable I wouldn't recomend using it as the boot drive just boot it as a slave and transfer all needed files to your newer and most likley faster hard drive. Then you can just use it as added storage.

That would be ideal Jack. Is there an easy explanation of how to do that? Maybe a tutorial somewhere?

Mikey, check this out (http://biorobots.cwru.edu/server/howto/buildcomp/mountdrive/). I'm assuming this drive is IDE (ATA). There's no magic here, you're just gonna use this drve as a storage drive. There's no way for me to know how this drive was jumpered, but the page I have linked outta get ya started.
Your BIOS will need to be set to boot from the correct drive (usually "C" ), or it may get confused.
Good Luck!
