I currently have two 74 gb raptors in a Raid 0, and I have the Raid drive partitioned as follows:
C: Operating System & Microsoft programs
E: Other Program Files
F: Games
G: My Documents
H: Financial Data backup files
I: Downloads
My DVD-Rom is drive D. I back up my C, G, & H partitions with Acronis to a third drive every night.
With a new build, I will have much larger capacity drives. I may Raid or not, haven't decided yet.
Questions:
1. Is there a downside to having so many partitions on a single drive?
2. I want fast loading of games. Should they be in the C: partition with the operating system?
3: Is there a better way to set things up.
4: What would be ideal? Cost and number of drives is not an issue; however, backup of very large partitions every night using Acronis could be too time consuming. I have considered Raid 10 with all my multiple partitions.
