So I have an Adaptec 2400A card, (it's pretty old but has been reliable until recently) and I need to replace it with something else because it's starting to fail -- I have four 400GB drives in a RAID-5 array. I'm just waiting for the card to die at this point, the array randomly mounts and unmounts and all sorts of other crap.

So, I wish to expand this sometime in the future, and since I invested money in those four drives, I'm not ready for the SATA switch just yet. What's a good recommendation for a replacement?

Hmm... do you have a backup already? If not, I highly suggest you get one. Moving to a new card may not be compatible with the array you have, causing you to start over. Other than that, do you have a budget?

Yeah, I already have a backup.

Budget... Well, I'd prefer not to spend more than $200, but if necessary I may be able to accomodate more.
