Every now and then, seems to be happening more often...my HDD will make a loud almost buzzing sound and my whole pc will freeze for 2-3 seconds. It started about a week ago when I was surfing the net and it chirped and did it for a fraction of a second...now its much worse. Stupid Maxtor drives, definitely buying 2x 320gb WD drives.

I would say you should backup your data immediately.

Then go get HDD Tune (Free) and scan your drive. If it has bad sectors, they'll show up. Regardless, hard drive clicking is never good and I'm guessing you'll probably be RMAing it soon.

Oh trust me, I already know haha. I'm going to run a DFT on it tonight. I'm not even going to bother RMA'ing just so I can receive another crappy Maxtor.

if you RMA it you can get a new (refurbished) drive and resell it to offset the costs of a new drive that you like.
