I'm currently stumped by setting up Client-Bridge mode in DD-WRT for my FON router I have. It doesn't seem to like my Netgear WGR614v5 =/.

What I'm looking for is a cheap, good bridge that would allow me to stream media to my Xbox running XBMC. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!:D

I just picked up a Buffalo WHRG125 from Circuit City yesterday for $39. Already have it flashed with DD-WRT and working as a bridge for my 360 for gaming and MCE. At $39 it's about a third the cost of the standard 360 wireless adapter.

Powerline adapters....good as running ethernet.

Not quite as good. Ethernet is still considerably faster depending on which powerline adapter you're comparing it to.

Also powerline adapters are much more expensive than just running ethernet and even more expensive than buying almost 5 of the dd-wrt capable routers I suggested. I think they are a great idea but right now they're just a little overpriced.

Actually recent versions will support 200 megs..I'm talking about speed for internet and online gaming...it's as fast and solid as ethernet. However...current powerline adapters are getting actual LAN throughput exceeding 50 megs.

Comparing the price of two or more of those..compared to the cost of running ethernet...one cannot judge which is more or less expensive..without knowing the layout of intended coverage. Are we just going 1x room over? One or two or three floors up? Across the span of a half dozen rooms? Using the basement to run cables not possible? Who knows. At 70 something bucks a pop...price for me to zero performance issues was a no brainer. Yes you can price around for some of those old wrt54g routers for a "little" less money...and deal with some performance hiccups...was the savings worth it? Not for me.

I've used DD-WRT on dozens and dozens and dozens of setups...while it's a decent alternative...wireless is still wireless, you're left to a few environmental factors which can cause performance issues. I for one...cannot stand online gaming across wireless, while some games are tolerant, others...sometimes hammer it too much. I have a whole bureau full of drawers stuffed full of various routers, access points, etc...including some of the better old 54g versions that I ran DD and Tomato on, and even some newer faster more powerful MIMO/*N gear...and occasional hiccup of playing Battlefield games on them drove me nuts...I picked up several of the PLE200 powerline adapters...and all hiccups gone. Absolutely smooth as butter..as if I ran CAT6 from my router to my PCs upstairs.
