Zomg. One of my favorite games of all time. I hope the "next gen" version is half as good as the NES game.

I hope they de-lame the story/plot before it releases. I'd have been happy to hear they were remaking the original, Hitler revival and all.

Could probably come up with a better name for the to-be-rescued hero than
"Super Joe" I imagine too, but I'd take that over the "convicted to execution hero released to help save our asses" line, which coincidentally, is basically what happened in Gears.

Thanks for only making me wait two decades to play this, Capcom. Bionic Commando was one of my favorite games as a kid.

...and Contra: Shattered Soldier, which was released 5 years before Gears. Except, he wasn't convicted to execution, but put to sleep cryogenically, IIRC.

That was the PS2 side scroller right? I'm pretty sure I blanked Shattered Soldier from memory, the cut scenes on that were grade A awful. I don't recall it making a lick of sense to me at the time.

Granted I think it was only 'hell' or 'damn' but I was like what, 7 or so? I also recall the end being graphic, for the time, as hitlers face melts or in his picture box after you blow up his machine.

It's been so long ago, I need to look it up.

LOL...me too! I was in gradeschool at the time and that was a big deal when he said "damn" at the end.
That was one of the first instances where we got a totally redone game on the NES rather than an arcade port (which wasn't possible at the time). I actually think the NES version was worlds better than the arcade. Strider for the NES was similar and while it wasn't as good as the arcade, it was also better in many ways, too.

I can't wait for a new Bionic Commando. I'd love to see it as a 3rd person game like Gears or even a 3D action game like Ninja Gaiden.
