View Full Version : HD Tach Results w/ Write-Back Caching Enabled - Is this right??

Hi all! I just enabled write-back caching on my 2x74GB Raptors in RAID 0 and noticed a very dramatic difference (sorry, n00b to RAID) on HD Tach:

Um, if the burst speed is correct, that is crazy! Is this a result of the 16MB cache on these drives? These are the newer 74GB Raptors.

Yeah not too sure about the accuracy of the burst speed but your result is normal. I'm getting close to 3GB with 2 Raptor 150 in Matrix RAID 0.
Hope its not against the rules to link to other forums but check the thread here for similar results as you are seeing.

Thanks manjina - that discussion seems to be right on the money! Looks like this is in fact possible, and the amounts varying on the stripe size, configs, etc; I appreciate the direction.
Now I just need to do something about my slow 36GB Raptor... :rolleyes:
