Temp/SMART monitor of external drive?

Prob been asked before, but my search-foo isn't working.

Is there a way to monitor the temp of my external HDD hooked up via USB (Eagle enclosure + older 200GB SATA Maxtor).

Nope. eSATA connection will do it. I don't know about Firewire.
