I have been using XP PRO 64 bit and have been told that it uses the server 2003 kernel. It seems that my quad core likes this OS better then XP HOME. I am wondering if the "regular" XP PRO 32bit is also built on the server 2003 kernel? For compatability reasons, I would like to switch to the XP PRO, but is this just like XP HOME? I am using a Q6600, and would like an OS that can "play" with my cores nicely!

Thanks

its the other way around.

XP is based on Win2000 kernel.. Win2003 is based on XP kernel.

As for multicore compatibility, all versions of XP will work as long as multiple cores are on the same die.

If they're on seperate processors (dual-cpu boards for example), then you need to be selective of your operating system. XP Pro accepts 2 processors, Home just one.

Only the 64-bit version of XP is Server 2003-based.
