I have some legacy hardware (a TV tuner card) that only has drivers for Windows XP 32 bit.

Will Vista 64bit (or even 32bit for that matter) be able to use my Windows XP 32 bit drivers to support my TV tuner card?

Maybe. A lot of it will depend on the driver and the level of access it needs to the kernel. For multimedia devices like sound cards, video cards, and TV tuners, the odds of XP drivers working is close to zero.

Now - it might have a functioning driver built-in to Vista (compared to the transition of XP, the built-in hardware support was actually surprisingly good in Vista, certain printers excepted.)

You should look and see if your device is listed at http://winqual.microsoft.com/hcl/Default.aspx

64-bit Windows cannot use 32-bit drivers. That is a definite.

32-bit Vista can use some older (32-bit) drivers for things.

Certified for
Windows Vista

Does that mean that Windows Vista has generic compatible drivers or that drivers exist for the device that are compatible with Vista?
