Hey guys, how's it going?

So right now I got a dual boot setup. I got 2 physical drives, one has XP on it, another one has Vista Ultimate 32-bit.

In few days, an update to my PC is coming, including a new mobo and CPU. Naturally, I gotta reinstall Windows. Question is, if I reformat the XP drive and reinstall the XP, will there be any possible conflicts between XP installation and current Vista dual boot manager?

Since I'll have to reinstall both anyways, I'm just not sure which one to install first.

All you gotta do is follow this guide...http://apcmag.com/node/5162/

I've installed XP a few times after having Vista already installed, it's no problem if you do what they tell you to do in the guide.

FWIW, I just upgraded from an Athlon XP on an nforce2 board to a Q6600 on an IP35 and did not have to reinstall Windows XP. Before the swap I went into Device Manager and uninstalled all motherboard and chipset related devices; when I booted up with the new hardware it all autodetected just fine, I installed drivers from the Abit cd and was good to go.

Best thing to do is you can have a dual boot with 1 hdd but you need to create 2 partitions. One for XP and the other for Vista. But make sure to install XP first then install Vista afterward. Don't try installing Vista first because you will have a major headache trying to follow instruction how to install XP for a dual boot.

So you're saying all I have to do is delete motherboard and system devices and then reboot with new hardware?

Now, which devices exactly have to be deleted?
