View Full Version : Installing RIAD-1 keeps failing after OS install.

So I got two hard drives in today. They are 400GB SATA1 drives, and my plan was to RAID-1 these drives, and install XP. My single 250GB would be wiped clean, and used for Vista.

So, in the bios I go turned on the RAID option. I created the RAID array successfully, and continued to Windows installation. I put in the floppy disk for ICH9R and all goes fine. The entire installation everything goes fine.

But the first attempt to boot the OS results in a restart shortly after it begins loading, and after it reboots, during the RAID check screen, I get a message telling me my array failed.

This happened to me twice now. I went into the BIOS and disabled RAID and booted on my single 250GB hard drive. In Windows the two drives are detected and they both have the same things written on them (from Windows installation). They both seem to read and write fine, so I ruled out a dead hard drive.

Anyone know what I'm doing wrong? I might try Gigabyte SATA later on tonight if I can't fix this issue.

Edit: Tried Gigabyte SATA, everything works fine. Not sure why ICH9R didn't want to work, but whatever.
