So... It's an X-Fi with better DAC's and OP Amps?

If so, it'll be tempting depending on how much they decide to charge for it.

Looks good. Very surprised this has been released without an announcement, though. It seems Auzentech is aware of a fair level of anticipation here.

for me at least, without that its not worth it over an XFi...

*ignoring EAX for the moment*, how do you think the Prelude stacks up against the HT Omega Claro Plus (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16829271003)?

Does anyone know if the drivers will be CL drivers or has CL allowed Auzentech to "tweak" them?

Perhaps Auzen is HW only, and does not do SW? Regardless, I have not been impressed with CL's ability to produce Vista drivers. So, when someone gets one, Vista driver feedback would be most appreciated.

QFT, Amen, Here Here! I am real excited about the Prelude, but I fear Creative's involvement in the software/drivers can only be a bad thing - they'll probably try and sneak another 10 links to FREE DIAL UP AOL onto my PC when I install "Drivers Only", just like the Audigy 2 ZS.

**** you Creative.

I guess we'll see. As long as I can keep using the Audio Console, I'll be satisfied. Creative's drivers don't bug me, but the software sure does.

Now...release date. Four days left in July, and we're still Preludeless.

NCiX is making Pre-orders for the card. The release date is said to be good still. The card probably won't make it to distributors until first week of august...

According to NcIX: ETA: 08/10/2007 (http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=23788&vpn=PRELUDE&manufacture=AuzenTech)

Yeah, that's what I said. The release date from the company is still the same. Take's a while to move them and stock them etc...It is finally coming to market.

They always keep people waiting for their products, I don't know any of their products that has been shipped on time but people would still keep buying their products. I wonder what does that mean...

It doesn't mean anything. It's just highly aggravating and annoying. You don't agree?

That's the X-Tension HDMI 1.3, not this card. Different product entirely.

I agree it is annoying especially when you are interested in their product and wanted to wait for it to come out. However people who already know the company for a while also know that they shouldn't wait when the company announced a product because the company has never delivered it on time.

The X-Meridian was once called X-Purity, was delayed, canceled and replaced by the end product, X-Meridian, which was also delayed. The X-Tension board was also delayed and I won't be surprised if the Prelude is delayed again.

Even with all the delay, if the end product is more than satisfying, their product will still sell. You can post your disappointment if you want but the card won't come out any faster. Eventhough you won't buy it when it comes out later because you are disappointed, someone else with still buy it if it turns out to be a great product.

Understandably, but knowing the way the company operates doesn't make it any less aggravating.

Naturally, that's probably the case. But, if you ask me, Auzentech's continual announcements and product delays are insulting to the customer base. It seems like Auzentech continually goes with unrealistic target dates with the sole intention of keeping interested parties "on the edge", keeping them from buying other products. We keep fueling the little fire, telling people to "wait for the Prelude", because we feel the Prelude's something worth waiting for, and when Auzentech misses the announced dates yet again, the typical reaction here, and elsewhere, is "No big deal. Auzentech must be making the product better for us!".

Different people have different thresholds for this sort of behavior. I'm still interested in the Prelude, as it's been hyped to somewhat unbelievable levels, but every time Auzentech jerks us off, my interest wanes, great product or not. The main reason I want this board is for X-Fi capabilities over HDMI, and it doesn't seem reasonable for me to assume that Auzentech will hit the October timeframe for the extension board given that the Prelude has slipped not less than three times. Ergo, I don't believe I'm picking this one up at launch.

Auzentech is jerking us around with this behavior. As much as I'd like for more competition in this market, it's unacceptable behavior.

Maybe a problem came up when they thought they had a solution to their earlier problem. Who knows. I am not saying you are wrong but engineering new things is not cookie cutter stuff.

It does have these features....I want a 5.1 EAX 5.0 stream over optical dammit.
