I have an HP A7217A (rebranded Sony FW900, 24" widescreen CRT) which has one VGA connector and one BNC. I'm thinking of buying a PS3 but obviously there is the issue of HDMI and HDCP, both of which this monitor lack.

I've heard of the HDFury which will "strip" the HDCP and allow me to connect the PS3 to this monitor. I have also heard that HDCP is only implemented while playing BluRay movies though, which I do not plan on doing any time soon. Could I just buy an HDMI->DVI adapter and then plug that in to a DVI->VGA adapter for playing games? Has anyone done this? Or is the HDFury my only option?

Thanks.

DVI to VGA won't work since all an adapter does is re-route the analog pins in a DVI-I interface. Since HDMI is all digital you would need a digital to analog converter. I assume that's what the FuryHD is.
