Hello, today I just bought an apple airport extreme (n) router. I also bought a belkin n1 wireless card for my PC running windows vista.

My signal strength has been a static excellent with transfer rates of 130mbps.

I am on a 50mb line (verizon fios) and I am getting atrocious download speeds of < 100 kps.

I just updated my firmware and my download speeds burst to 5mbps from a site I frequent a lot, then all downloads after that remained at a pitiful <100 kps.

I have no idea how I can get those previous download speeds back if anybody has any suggestions it would be much appreciated. Thanks.

p.s. If this was already answered, I apologize and have searched prior to posting but to no avail. Thanks again.

oddly enough, all my online games have excellent latency...

only my downloads suffer...:(

More strange are my speed tests that show 30mbps +...what the hell is going on...

Did you download the latest Atheros drivers? Grab those for the AR5008.

http://www.station-drivers.com/page/atheros.htm

If you are overclocking your PCI bus, some wireless cards don't like that.

May I ask what these drivers are for?

My mobo is the EVGA 680i and has not gone thru any overclocking.

Thanks for the help

I thought you were using a Belkin N1 wireless adapter? That's an Atheros card which uses Atheros drivers.

If the low throughput is with wired, then I would make sure you reinstall the latest Nvidia drivers for the 680i.
