View Full Version : System Restore Windows XP
I had overwritten some files on a program called E-time which tracks employees punches in and out of our facility. When I realized I had overwritten these files I wanted to restore the system back to earlier in the day. The user I'm logged in as is an administrator but she was logged on through our domain when I restored. After restore was complete nothing had changed. Then I decided to log on as the administrator locally to that machine and run a System Restore. After it was through still no change. It seems as if this system restore is not working. Do you guys have any clues of what to do to get this machine to restore back a day. It's pretty crucial I get the files I had overwrote back.
Let me know...
Thanks

I have found that System Restore rarely, if ever actually works. I don't know of any fixes, so to speak... I know that isn't much help, but I'm not surprised that your having problems with it.. A daily backup is 100% more reliable than depending on System Restore.

That's generally the case, and that's one of the reasons why it is almost always disabled on a business machine. Sorry that's not very helpful. Have you tried contacting their makers of E-Time to see if they have a restore, or undo function?
They cannot restore any file that is not there. The thing I find to be funny is that we do not have this uploaded to our corporate office. We just send the two files that are neccassary to them in an email.
