I'm running Vista now and am trying to find a feature I used to use often in XP. I don't have a computer running XP off hand so I'm going off memory (forgive me if the details are slightly incorrect).
Anyway in Explorer on XP you could go to Tools -> Folder Options and there'd be a tab that shows a list of all the extensions that are registered on the system. On that list you could really change the details of file extension like for example what program it runs and what command line arguments to pass to it. It was more of a power user tool and not very friendly like the "Open With" command when you right click a file.
With me so far? Ok on to Vista. The tab isn't there anymore. So what I did was I went into the control panel -> default programs -> set associations but that list is very similar to the "Open With" command and isn't very useful because you can't modify the specific details of the association.
Long story short is I've looked around and I can't seem to find it. Maybe I'm blind, maybe it's gone...I don't know. Anyone know where it went?
