Ok whenever i install a new driver for sound card or for my 8800 gts everything installs correctly and runs smooth.

Just one problem thats pissing me off and i just cant figure it out. Anyways the problem is once install the said driver and i have to restart, the computer just hangs right after it says "shutting down" then it turns off my keyboard and mouse then goes to a black screen where it just stays with a curser in the top left hand corner.

After this i cant do anything "if anyone can tell me how to shutdown at black screen" but to hit reset.

And thats it i hope i cant get this answered. Also if im installing drivers and have to reboot and it hangs like this, can the drivers get corrupter or something?

By the way im running vista 64 bit.

Try using a driver cleaner while in safe mode, reboot, and then install the latest drivers. Then shut down to see if it still hangs.

I use this driver cleaner which works under Vista:
