What exactly is SLi ready memory? I'm beginning to see high end motherboards and RAM manufacturers touting this feature? From what I've found it seems only to be a way of storing performance profiles on the RAM itself. Is this just to prevent cold boot issues when overclocking?
I also don't see why it's called 'SLi ready'.

The name it's given really doesn't have much, if anything, to do with its features. Basically, like you said, there are EPP (Enhanced Performance Profiles) which make overclocking easier. It automatically sets the frequency, timings and voltage so you don't have to. 'Not worth the price premium, if you ask me, since most of us are likely to overclock memory manually anyway.
