Anyone got more information regarding Seagate's 7200.10 .aak firmware/revision?

Some people say the .aak drives are throttled down to around 55MB/s, which is significantly slower than earlier models. Others claim the benchmarking tools are flawed and I've translated a few non-English sites who claim the .aak runs just fine.

I'm kind of worried because I have an original 320GB .aa drive, and I liked it so much I just splurged and bought 2x500GB 7200.10's from NCIX.com. The majority of the people on their forums claim NCIX is shipping .aak drives.

Thanks,

idk if this will help but did you take off the jumper in the rear? There are a few benchmark figures in the forum, somewhere..

The jumper will make little or no difference. If you can't find research on this, consider it an opportunity to contribute to the body of knowledge ;) Even something as simple as running HDTach on one of each disk would help. If you break out a stopwatch you get bonus points*!

*Not redeemable for cash, though. I asked.
