I have one of these guys: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136082

It's very fast right after a boot. Faster than my older internal SATA drive. But gradually over a while, the speed of the drive slows considerably. I can actually sense it slowing down. I know it sound stupid to make this description up, but I'd say an accurate assessment is that it slows down one megabit a second.

Anyone have this problem before? Any suggestions or tips?

Thanks!

Why don't ya try HdTach (http://www.simplisoftware.com/Public/index.php?request=HdTach) and see what it's really doing?

^Ok did that.

After reboot HD tach reports 145 MBs burst speed, faster than my older internal SATA drive, which gets 130 MBs.

However after some heavy usage and winraring, HD Tach reports the speed at 10 MBs! Slower than USB!

WTF!!

Does Windows report the drive as being in DMA or PIO mode at that point?

Apparently Microsoft agrees with you (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310751) :p
