Hi, I'm trying to get the most out of the drives I have and keep the power bill down ;)

I've got a Raptor 150GB drive as my boot drive. I've just purchased a Highpoint RocketRAID 2312, PCIe-4 card and as it's got 2 internal and 2 external ports, here's what I'm thinkin.

In my PC I'll run the Raptor 150GB still as my boot drive, 2 80GB drives in Raid0 (just 'cause it's cheaper than another raptor :p ) for Mydocs and additional apps etc, a 300GB drive and a 320GB drive for basic storage and temp backup of mydocs. Externally I'll have a 300GB portable drive, and lastly 2 80GB drives in Raid0 purely for my scratch disk for Video (Premiere/After Effects etc) and Photoshop work.

I was wondering can the External Raid0 be 'Ejected' from the taskbar (and the drives then turned off) when not in use? I currently have a raid0 as scratch with one of the drives being external and on the odd occasion, I've forgot to turn it on when the PC starts up and I have no 'X' volume and have to restart with the drive on to get the raid volume back up..... but no data loss. I was wondering if it can be ejected and turned off and turned on, for when I'm doing Video editing, in a controlled way without needing re-boot and without any probs? I suppose I can just give it a bash but I want to know if anyone has experience with raids and sees this as potentially a problem in the long run.
