hey guys, first time buying a backplane. I got this one:
http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16817119404
The price was good and it got pretty good reviews. Anyway...the manual is horrible. I was wondering about this ljp3 on the back; it's for fan failure detection and temperature detection and prob something else. It came with SATA cable but nothing to hook that up with. And if I have it...where do I even hook these up? Also, if I'm putting four drives in this this, do you know if I need all four power connectors connected or what? It looks nice...but the manual is trash lol. Thanks in advance

You should only have to connect two of the power connectors (preferably of the same type - two molexes or two sata-style) to get all the drives to work. What do you mean about the cables not having anything to hook up with? The pictures on Newegg look pretty clear; is your case different? How about a picture of what you're having problems with?

Hehe, I got the 5 in 3 one myself (3 molex , 2 sata) I was wondering the same thing, stupid manual. Haven't hooked mine up yet tho, still deciding on which drives and raid card to go with, but thats another thread.

the box works fine. The thing I was having problems with was the little jumpers on the back. There's two separate ones. One of them is the ljp3 which has like 6 pins I think for the fan failure like I said. they just don't provide any type of cable for that. I can do without it though...I first thought it was something I needed for the box to work (my first backplane) but it works fine and all LED's light up. I think I'll be able to tell if the fan stalls...it's loud enough lol. Thanks for the help though.
