i have a raid0 with 2x320GB drives running on the integrated on-motherboard RAID controller on my mobo. (MSI-rs482-il...i think)

if i upgrade and the new motherboard doesn't have the EXACT same raid controller am i screwed? will have to rebuild my raid and loose all my data? i have no way to backup 640GB easily

is there a way to un-RAID them first?

yes, buy an external drive onto which you back up your important data.
is there a way to un-RAID them first? Not really, at least not easily. I guess you could write a program that does it for you.

Then don't be stupid?

Buy a stand alone card so you don't have these kinds of problems again => Adaptec has excellent support.

Someone on this forum had written a program that fixed his online-raid-level-migration which had gone bad. I am having a really hard time finding it right now though.

This is not going to work, if you raid the two new drives and transfer everything over that will work, but if you then want to add the origional 2 drives back, you will have to destroy your new Raid-0 array once again.

This is why it is best to have your storage drives in raid-1 or just as storage drives instead.

Your best best may be the 1 TB drive in the Hotdeals forum, then you can use it for backups after you transfer everything.
