Vista and Anti-Virus

Is anyone running Anti-virus with their Vista OS? I tried AVG, but it slowed my system down dramatically. Any suggestions?

I am using AntiVir since AOL Active Virus Sheild doesn't support Vista.

Ive never tried Avast. But Ive had NOD32 for a couple years now and haven't felt the slightest need to change to anything else. Also Ive been using it on Vista Premium 32bit for the last few months without any problems.

For some reason Norton Antivirus 2007 got 2nd place. Not sure if I'd trust that review :)

I did, and I beta'd, and even purchased three licenses..

Until I found out it doesn't work wit x64.


NOD32 here. It had a hiccup a few weeks back, but their support team was quick on the response and offered a patch quickly. I'm satisfied. Low footprint and all that jazz. :cool:

Just fyi I purchased OneCare and running Vista Ultimate 64 and it would not install because Vista 64 does not support OneCare

Using Avast on my personal computer with Vista Premium. All of the computers at work running Vista Business are running McAfee Antivirus 8.5i with the McAfee Antispyware extension.

I've used both AVG and NOD32 on Vista.
Quite honestly, I see no difference between the two. Neither slows it down.

I know NOD32 is recommended highly around here- but in all honesty- I think it is not as great as what some make it seem. I've tried it on XP as well- and AVG is performing equally well.

That being said- the only difference is cost. Pay for NOD32, or get AVG free.

I use NOD32. Downloaded it on a whim because something wasn't "right" with my machine. Turned out every EXE file on my hard drives were infected by this virus (iJeefo.A). NOD32 cleaned the whole thing out. It prevented the virus from "running" while the disinfection was taking place as well.

I'm pretty impressed with what a light footprint and advanced engine NOD32 employs. Money isn't really an issue when you spread it out over a year or two.

One of the reasons I haven't switched over to 64 bit yet. It's ironic that Microsoft doesn't support it's own products. As soon as they make it available, I will reinstall OneCare on my 64 bit machines.

I have used Anti-Vir for a while and its rock-solid. Never had an issue, no performance issues at all.
