Getting the message that my beta version will expire in 10 days. I plan on building new sys soon, but i dont think i will have all the parts & the build done w/in 10 days.
Whats the impact when my vista expires? i really dont want to load xp back on for a temp solution until my new sys done. does it just limit my app use or internet time?

This was covered a while back (http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1183848), actually. But in a nutshell: after May 31 and up until August 28, you will be able to log into a given pre-release version of Vista for no more than two hours at a time.

I had 12 computers in my lab running Vista RC2 5744 .. rustled up enough xp home and pro keys to change back and have 3 more to go to reload windows and the 10 or so games and serveral programs that go on each comp.. to bad they all have different hardware configurations ....

Thanks, i knew i read it somewhere. 2 hours should suffice. i will just need to copy over my files to new comp.

Well I'm on the same horse, about 8-9 days left. Comes the biggest question install XP or buy Vista. I think I might go back to XP until vista matures a little bit, with vista I feel like some of my games crash on it quite a bit, printer does not like vista, fails to work in it and in the site they have a Vista bios. It feels like with Vista I get less things done, I like the interface, the weather at startup and how it handles programs at startup but there's a few things holding me back.
Printer hates it, Battle field 2 crashes randomly, Creative has not fixed the problem with direct 3d sound, gaming has not really improved. ATI 550 tv turner does not work
Things I like to add from the other things I listed on the top is the monitor management, aero, good boot times and shut downs, it also auto updates better.
I think I might have to wait for it to mature a little bit, for the moment, I a few days to figure out a few things. What do you guys think? Only other thing that could make me want to install vista is Halo 2.

im still buying vista cause im going to need an os for new system. its cheaper than xp prof(vista home prem) & i have confidence things will improve over time. might as well try & future-proof my os spend as much as possible.

I'm going back to XP. I still find no reason to keep Vista besides DX10, and my machine isn't good enough to handle newer games, so XP should suffice and excel at my needs.
