I am hearing conflicting reports:

Do you have to have a PS2 memory card to save PS2 games on the PS3?

Can I just save the games to the HDD?

There is a PS2 adapter that you can pick up for the PS3... but it only works one way....

You can use it to upload your saved games to your PS3... but your PS3 will not save to the PS2 memory card....

Good luck. :)

Just to confirm, you don't need anything but the HDD to save PS2 games. I must warn you though that the memory card adapter is a one thing thing only and really a waste of money for 15 bucks. If you want i'm sure I could send it to ya if you need it. I think a buddy of mine is borrowing it right now. lol

All the PS1 and PS2 games I have work and I every now and then still buy older PS2/PSX classic games and have not ran into any trouble.

I just went through this this weekend. I downloaded that PS2 software in the sony store, installed it, and what it did was reserve a space on the HDD for PS2 saves. It uses the 1st gamesave slot for whatever PS2 game you are playing. tested with a few games and it works fine.

I didn't even have to do that. Mine already had that on it. The only thing i had to do was create memory card slots and assign them. THat was it.
