I am currently trying out Vista and want to dowload some more gadgets. I currently have one that displays the cpu and mem usage for my dual core machine. Does anyone else know of anything cool that they personally use? Thanks in advance.

I use one for weather, the calendar, one for drive space, and the program launcher. I don't remember their names, but they are available by following the link to add more. I loaded a bunch of them to see what they were like, and then deleted everything I didn't want to use.

I use Accu Weather's weather, as I like it the best out of any so far.

I personally don't care about drive space and all that, I can make two clicks to see that, with no extra gadget.

I do have an uptime gadget that shows me how long Windows has been running for. Pretty useless, but it is interesting to see how long it has been since my last reboot. It has taught me that MS is pretty darn good about issuing updates that require reboots, as my counter goes over 7 days at times.

I have a Woot gadget as well. Shows the Woot for the day without having to visit the site. I'm not really a big fan of Woot (think the only real deal comes from the shipping cost on some bigger items), and often never check it. With it there, I might see something that peaks my interest once in a while.

Clock gadget? I have one in the bottom right corner of my screen.
Calendar? I can click once to get a calendar.

Just what I personally prefer ;)

It's always amazing that people will add more "gadgets" or running processes to Vista (or even XP for that matter) to see info the OS already offers up natively or with a click or two.

Weird, ain't it? :)

The clock is right there on the Tray, the Calendar comes up with a double click on the clock, etc. And I won't even get into the obsessive need to monitor temps/CPU/GPU/etc stuff anymore. I run Task Manager sometimes to find out what the hell is choking this XP box I'm on - typically it's reaching past the 10K handle point which is a known issue with XP and previous versions of Windows.

I agree, but the calendar comes up with ONE click now (Which I love...)

i use battery monitor made by link8506, clock by microsoft, multi meter by SFKilla and wireless network made by David Taraso. the multi meter is pretty sweet its like the one that was discussed earlier it shows each core usage as well as ram.

I only use a weather one and one for my Gmail account. I might need to check out the Woot one, and maybe the uptime one too.

Was there any information that you were really dying to see on your desktop before? If not, then why bother with a widget? It won't do you any benefit and will only eat up CPU cycles.

I have four that I like, I float them three of them out on the desktop at 40% opacity at the bottom of my screen, and leave the waetherbug on in its minimal mode on the sidebar.

Dual Core Multi-meter (I'm still using the 1.2 version, the one listed here resizes when floated with no option to scale, but the author is working to add a choice option in the next version.)
