well a good friend of mine is down to do some fishing and its too windy to do anythin and hes just sitting around the house. well not to long ago i was a drunk dumass and knocked his external HD off of my desk and now my computer wont recognize the HD. i know this is one of the most basic questions yall get but how can i fix it???

there are 3 kinds of problems that a HD can have: Logical, Electronic or Mechanical, yours itīs the latter, well your pr0n... er... your "data" is still there... hmm... data recovery software canīt help u on this one, better get some professional help

Your options are not simply limited to the poster above me ^^^ :D you can try taking it out of the external case and see if you are able to use the drive internally. All external drives are an internal drive in a case. See if a computer can recognize it at the POST or in windows, use a system with some drive utilities on it, theres plenty of freeware ones that will diagnose it. And if you look at the drive's manufacturer (samsung, WD, seagate, etc) sometimes they will have drive utilities on their website for help troubleshooting the drive. Good luck.
