If you own the Abit F-I90HD please report in if your board died, what bios you were using, if you were overclocking the FSB & using onboard graphics. Or if your board works fine.

what about working with other vga?

unfortunately you can only have 10 choices in the poll so I left a couple choice out. I can edit one of the choices to working fine with or without onboard vga or something. I think there are more boards out there with no failures than with failures personally. I'm overclocked, with onboard vga & modded bios myself with no problems.

Mine was working fine overclocked with "modded" bios and other VGA. Sold to another member and looks like he already voted...

Dillusion, your's died??

If you own the Abit IT-90HD

Does not exist, was modified (features removed) and marketed as the F-I90HD.

Not sure, he also wrote it in his setup desciption signature! Weird, how can you miss the model number on the cool Fatal1ty box?

Despite the model number goof its a great idea for a Poll and thread. :D

Flawed poll. I have Overclocked modded BIOS w/ a separate video card, but I voted modded, overclocked, onboard.

Overclocked from day one............Modded BIOS from day one.........Onboard video overclocked to 609 Mhz on the core since day 3........................ Still no problems! 18.7 Super Pi 1m times.....lovin it!!!

Oh yea, I am using the zalman fatal1ty cooler. It fits perfect with the NB cooler and fits nicely in a X-qpack.

What does that make it...10 ok 4 dead.

I've sold some 100 on my site and so far I've had 4 people have them die.

Probably because unless your enthusiast of SFF, or have a broken board, you probably dont visit this forum as much as you used to. :P

And good chances if your enthusiast, you overclock, which may be a root reason for some of the deaths.

Total deaths reported is about 9 now if you count Gary's over at AT. Thats counting those here at HardForum, XtremeSystems(Fuggers blew his up), and Anandtech.com. Some will say its a small amount and it is a minority technically but there's enough evidence to suggest ABIT has a problem although its still a minority. I dont think ABIT has sold that many mobos in the States anyway. Very few sites even knows the mobo exist. The problem is that no one knows for sure the why of it yet. Rumor of new BIOS chips suggest ABIT knows more than they are pubicly telling people.

I voted for Working Fine, overclocked, modded bios, onboard vga when i'm really using separate vga. Wasn't a choice for that.

poll is flawed as ive had two boards die and can only vote once

you need to run 2 polls and half the percentages to put all options in, if it will let you that is.

first died with Evaluation rom with OCZ mem, on board gfx

second died with bios dated 22/2/07 with geil mem and x850xt

First board died using onboard video, e4300, 2 GB OCZ memory and an antec neo 550. It died after modded bios update then the aBit BIOS and pushing it to 350 fsb.

Second board is working great so far with the same parts plus an 8800GTS.

Currently running at 3.1 Ghz stable with stock cooling, using stock BIOS.

Poll is limited to 10 choices. I tried to choose the most options for failed boards. I needed about 12-14 choices to fit everything in that I wanted.

but what about people who have two or three dead boards? they can only vote once. or the people that have one die the the second is fine! what do they vote for (the failed board or the good board)?

also why dont you just have "Working fine" as option 1and use the rest options of the poll for getting data on boards that died??

people can post there healthy board setups in the thread.

can you tell me what ram you are using please

For those that had a dead board...did you try putting 1 module of RAM into each DIMM slot and trying to boot? Matt (Dillusion) and I might have found a connection with the memory slots and boards dying.

Wanted to clarify my vote. My board is working great with onboard audio, OC'd a bit and not using onboard VGA.

The only problem I have run into is with the new BIOS and my CPU temps not showing properly. Abit tech. support finally got back to me and said that some CPUs cause this problem and the next BIOS version should fix this.

Modded bios? What does that mean?

My board came with the older BIOS .. version 11 I think? I downloaded the new one and while it worked for awhile, it went poof ..

So what kind of BIOS did I have when it died? Modded or shipped?

bob511
05-16-2007, 12:32 PM
"Shipped."

Some people have used tools like modbin to restore options (like more memory clock speeds) to the BIOS menu that Abit has disabled in their provided versions; that's what the poll is talking about.

I have been looking at getting a new SFF board for my next project. I really want to get
this board but am afraid.

With my luck im going to have a really shitty order since my
Abit AW9D-Max's Audio really stinks and it drops any over clock the next day while still on.
Abit AB9 PRO looses OC even small one constantly
Abit KB9 Pro lost all seral ata drivers and I have not played with it to fix it.

^ like I said, I get all the crappy boards that do many random things :?

If you havent ordered it yet I'd suggest waiting for the G33M-DS2R. Its availble in Europe now and should see it soon in USA. It overclocks far better than the F-I90HD and so far its looking more stable.

Yeah, Gigabyte replied back to me saying Intel's NDA is lifted June 4th. Suppliers already have it in stock according to the email I got. They are just waiting for the NDA to lift. If thats true expect to see reviewers and stores offering it the week of June 4th.

Who here have gotten the onboard video to work at 512mb?

When I set mine at 512, the screen gets corrupted and i get crazy artifacts.

My sadly only works at 256mb.

bob511
05-29-2007, 07:56 PM
"Sadly"?
I have a feeling that 256MB would be much more useful as main system memory, than it would taking an X700-level GPU up to a pretty-silly 512MB.

I get the crazy artifacts with 512mb as well. Also, my logitech dinovo keyboard stops working in the bios if I set it to 256mb. Everything seems to work at 128mb. I hope bios 13 fixes this and the CPU temp issue. I would prefer to set my video to 256mb.

I have Vista.

Seems like the onboard video at 512mb dont work under Vista x32.
Am I correct? Is this a Vista issue? XP works fine with 512mb from what I was told.

Im hoping this will be resolved on the next BIOS.
