Problem:
I have a 200 GB external HD that I have used with a Windows XP computer for some time now. I needed to do some work in FinalCut Pro and formatted it on the Macintosh using the default Mac file system. When I completed my movie I wanted to use my HD on my XP machine again but it was not recognized as being connected in the "My Computer" window.
Solution:
From the "Start" menu I did a search for "diskmgmt". I opened the Windows Disk Management program and the external HD was listed in the window. I initialized and formatted the HD from there. It works perfectly now.
