I am doing "family tech support" and the computer in question is a compaq with XP home.
It hangs during boot up.
I restarted in safe mode, but it still hangs. I thought there was a way to boot into Windows that showed was going on so you could see where it's bombing, but I don't know the command line. Is there a log file I can check?
Also, if I put Windows back on top of the old install, will they lose all their info?
