In my Vista file transfer between different hard drives is around 40 MB/sec... It seems to be stuck there no matter if its between two SCSI, between two ATA133, SCSI to ATA133, etc... Im not sure but I think it was somewhat the same in XP. Any clues to why?
Do you have two hard drives and computer with Vista? Do a test, copy 1+ GB file from one disk to another, click details to see transfer rate.

you sure it is Vista? and not yr mobo controller/drive/settings
between two SATA drives on my PC data transfer is slower then I would expect (XP and linux) YET between SATA and PATA is is alot better

But Vista is faster than XP, isn't it?

I'm confused
EDIT: to be constructive - 40MB/sec is quite a quick write rate. You'd be hard pushed to top that without investing in a fast RAID array.

40mb/s is actually pretty fast considering the faster of current sata drives holds an average write speed of 65 and if you're transfer smaller files you won't keep a constant 65mb/s I Was transfering small files at about 15mb/s
should I be installing my 965p drivers :P? vista seemed to have all of the ICH8 drivers already
