I have about 2000 emails on my other PC (not the one in my sig)
Whenever a new email comes and I want to open it.. it lags and thinks and thinks and THEN opens it....
I never had this issue before, but I never had so much email in my outlook loaded. I usually archieve email, but currently I need to have access to all of it, at a touch of a button.

the system has 1gb of single channel DDR ram. with a 3500 amd and a 80gb pata seagate

anything that could be done software wise?? or am I stuck with upgrading the hardware? a friend of mine has a similar system with TONS of emails, and he has a 3500 with a 36 gb raptor and 2gb of dual channel ram and that pc is FASSST!!

I was thinking of just upgrading the ram for now with a dual channel 2gb kit, if that doesnt do it, i might consider getting a raptor for that PC...

Ive got users at my work with 4x that amount in email on outlook 2003/2007 with much slower computers and no problem.

You may want to turn on caching if your performance is that bad, although that can cause other issues down the road.

You'll still have archived e-mail at the touch of a button...

Man, 2000 emails is nothing. I can get that in a month, easy.

I have some 80,000 emails in my PST file and do not have this issue.

However, I HAVE experienced it on users computers. There is a cause for it, and a fix.

Google it. I think you'll find an answer. I just don't remember what it is right now.
