Lookin for a new TV

Well, im finally wearing my dad down enough to the point that he is looking for a new tv. (we currently have a 27inch 12 year old relic of a thing, its finally kicking the bucket)

We are looking for at least 32 inches HDTV. Preferably with speakers in the TV itself. The pricerange is around 1,000.(give or take.) However, if it dosn't have a built in tuner, id like a recommendation of that too. (thats one thing i know NOTHING about).

Things we are currently considering are:

Westinghouse LVM37w3

We would " prefer" 1080P but if there is a really good deal or a smashing good 720 display, we would be willing to look into those as well.


Any other recommendations? And could you guys recommend us a tuner if needed?

stay away from scepter... PLEASE!!! there computer monitors have horrible color reproduction, awful blacks, ghosting, well pretty much all problem you could ask for.. so logically the tv sucks as well...

not a big fan of westy but for the price they are ok...

Unless u planning to go down HD-DVD/Blue-Ray route, u can get a more than decent 720p native display instead of the 37w3.

Note the reason why the 37w3 is popular here is a lot of people use it as their PRIMARY PC monitor and is dead cheap for a 1080p display but for general TV viewing, I'd take a Samsung LNR series 720 display over the Westy anyway.

ahhh finally someone who isn't a fan of this monitor has well... every where i look on this forum i thought i was the only one not liking it....
