I just built a nice gaming system for my Brother's birthday, the Family all split in, as well as my Brother himself on the cool VideoCard and PSU......He says Vista64-Ultimate does not feel snappy and fast, more of a system hog and is asking if the same system on WinXP would run much faster ?......He is mainly just talking about everyday computer use, not even games yet, but my system in my signature is just a little bit faster than what I built him and mine on Vista64-Ultimate feels very fast, and lightning quick.
His spec's;
Asus AN8-Premium
Athlon64 X2-4400+
2gb generic memory
eVga 8800GTS
75gb Raptor
X-Fi Music
550watt UltraX2 PSU
Cooler Master case
I would think his computer is more than enough to handle Vista64-Ultimate and run smooth as heck ??

I'm not a Moderator or anything, but you simply must stop creating all these threads, man. We as people that offer assistance can't keep jumping all over the damned place for the same reasons for the same people. There's already one thread you created earlier and now all of a sudden you created this one for the same issues but you're leaving out "DRM" now.
Geezus...

Tell your brother to give it a week or so to learn his computer habits or to build his own damn box next time.

If he hasnt been running it for over two weeks, tell him to wait, I have 64 ultimate as well, At a minimum it is as fast as XP right after install, Give it 2-3 weeks for Vista to learn how you use the computer and it will be blazing fast(mine took about 3 weeks and it seems to be getting faster and faster as stupid as that sounds) I thought it was all bullshit but its true, vista does learn how YOU use your computer and adapts itself.
Try to keep it in one thread please.

That's just today. There's been many many more on the same subject. My advice, and it's going to sound drastic. Either switch your brother back to Vista32 or XP32. He seems to not have much patience to learn something new, which is only going to make things worse. It's one thing to ask a few questions when they arise, but between installing Vista64 and then all these follow up questions, maybe it would have been better to give hime what he was familiar with, and be done with it.

On of my other computer(backup) is running vista ultimate 32-bit right now. Its spec are pentium 4 2.66ghz, 2gb ram, 250gb SATA Harddrive, and a ATI 9600 256mb card :/
and it is running vista ultimate very smoothly.

I don't know what he means by a system hog, but if he says it's using up a bunch of RAM, even when the computer is idle, that is a feature of Vista which keeps certain data in memory, that the user uses most frequently, so when the person decides to open or access it, it loads very quicly. If more ram is needed, by another application, Vista will release that data, to give the running program the extra memory it needs.
Like others have suggested, tell him to keep using it for a few weeks, and let Vista "learn" his computing habits, and it'll probably begin to run faster and more smoothly for him.

He's been posting and asking questions about Vista for weeks now so, everytime I see him (meaning the OP) start yet another thread about Vista and performance I just get a queasy feeling in the pit of my stomach that all the effort we're putting into answering his questions has been for naught and will continue to be so.
