Very Slow RAID5 :( .... thoughts?

hey guys i just got my hard drives and raid controller in today and just got it up and running. im using a Highpoint 2300 raid controller with seagate 7200.9 500GB drives. i ran HDTach and im getting an average read spead of 8.5MB/sec. here is a screenshot:

is it still initializing the array?

uhh... well first off this is my first raid 5 array.... i went into the bios for the controller, initiallized the drives, created the array then at main screen it said "uninitialized" but wouldnt let my initialize again after i had the array setup so i figured that was it... i loaded up windows, installed drivers, opened disk management and initialized, did a quick format and boom, all done, then ran HDtach about 30 min later.

Do the test again tomorrow. Sounds like the array is still building.

Hey guys i just ran the test again and it came up with an average read of 129.9MB/sec. Im now officially very happy :D thx for the advice guys
