Hi,
I am a newbiew. Running Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3, E6300 overclocked at 3.5Ghz. I have Corsair 2gb p6400 5-5-5-15 with Scythe Ninja Plus Rev. B. Idle temp showing mobo around 34 C and CPU Temp betqween 48 C and 51 C. Before I run it on load, can someone tell me above temps are normal, before I fry my rig.

That's a tad toasty for idle.

For comparison, and I may be an extreme case as I have the Antec 900 (4x120mm; 1x200mm) but I idled stock at 29-31C.

speedfan is showing temp1 34 C, temp 2 50 C, temp 3 -1 C, and HD0 34 C. at cpu usage 4.0 %. If someone can explain which one is CPU.

I even brought back to 1.86 Ghz, which is stock clock for e6300, and have pretty much same temp.
FYI room temp is around 67 C.

Give CoreTemp and TAT a try.

wow, hot room. lol.
Yes core temp and tat are more accurate.
Still temps are a little high for me.

Give CoreTemp and TAT a try.

I changed it back to stock clock of 1.86ghz. TAT is showing:
CPU 0 Temp at 60C and CPU 1 at 59 C, underneath both temp it says in Green background.Thermal Monitor Idle.
Is this normal temp????

Core temp is showing:
Tjunction : 85 C
Core # 0 60 C

Core # 1 59 C

Clock freq. 1866mhz

Turn your computer off immediately and re-seat the heatsink with fresh thermal paste. Clean the old stuff off.

60C isn't a dangerous temp, but at idle, that means your load temps will be 65-70 (ish). That's bad.

EDIT: For the record, 65 is the highest you'll ever want to see. 75-80 is probably "wow, my processor is actually melting".

I'll do. I was going to do it, but wanted to be sure before taking off Giant Scythe Ninja plus which pain to install.
Thanks for the info
What should be normal for this set up for IDle???

Idle temps at stock speeds should be lower than 35-40*C.

EDIT: When you lowered the FSB back to stock, did you remember to drop the voltages back to ~1.3 or lower?

yes everything back to normal. i have the computer off but i think it was at 1.325

when i say normal, i meant i reset everything back to stock setting. system temp is not normal

one more question what should be acceptable temp when over clocked at 3.2ghz?

Anything under 60 on load. Under 45 idle would be alright.

What is it with that "below 60C" fetishism? If it's 68C, who cares as long as it's stable? It's still a long shot away from the max allowed temps... there is absolutely no reason for "below 60C" apart from being fixed to a nice round number... :D

Wow, really. I can probably get to 4.0 on air with my e6300 at those temps. I am at 3.4 with 46-48 load temps.:)
