Well I have a great thermal take that I paid 35 for its the one with like 1200 reviews on newegg. I'll be running a core 2 duo system with like a 7800 video card. I shouldn't need more than 420 watts right?

quality > quantity. Plus, wattage is not the same as amperage; You can have a shitty crappy psu with a ton of watts but low amperage and without any hope of actually doing what the label says.
